Situation: High energy costs eroding profits Potential outages pose risk to customer satisfaction Any cost saving solution cannot compromise guest experience Solution: 4 x 200 Cogen units + 240 Ton chiller A five star hotel and resort's business is customer satisfaction - the customer experience cannot be disturbed or interrupted in any way. Trying to lower operational costs at a luxurious property can be a difficult task considering possible implications to the customer experience. Through our Value Share program, Hess Microgen paid for, installed, and operates 800 kW of synchronous, continuous-duty power and 240 Tons of absorption chilling -- with no detrimental impact to operations or the customer -- to make facility cost savings a reality. The Hess Microgen systems are powering about 80 % of the resort's electricity needs, as well as off-loading the boilers that provide domestic hot water and pool heating, and off-loading the air conditioning system via 240 Tons of cold water chilling. Resorts and hotels are excellent candidates for cogeneration because they have extended hours of operation and multiple uses for thermal energy, ranging from hot water for kitchens, laundries, and domestic hot water to significant cooling needs as well. Hess Microgen's machines are quiet enough that they can be situated near guests without concern for sound intrusion and small enough to be located in equipment rooms or discretely tucked away outside.
